Since we moved into this house almost 3 years ago, I’ve been dragging my feet for one reason or another to decorate our house and make it feel homey. In the past few months, I’ve been feeling inspired, but wasn’t sure where to start. I decided to start with the front porch, and wanted to decorate with staple pieces I could add seasonal touches throughout the year. This post contains some affiliate links which adds no cost to you, but supports this blog! Thank you!
Here was the inspiration I found on Pinterest! I could totally see this working perfectly on my porch for the fall, and figured I could figure out the other seasons as we went along 😂
Here is the final product! I’m super happy with how it turned out, and wish I had taken pictures along the way, but I’ll do my best to describe the process.
The crate was purchased from Walmart, and I spray painted it with Krylon® ColorMaster Paint + Primer Flat White. It took 2 coats for the bright white color, but in total it only took about 45 minutes. The lantern, house, and bird cage were all things I already had in my house, but I’ll link some similar items on this LIKEtoKNOW.it post. I’ve also had luck finding cute items at Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, and Ross.
The planters were also a gift from Spencer’s great aunt, but I was able to find a few similar ones that are also linked in the LIKEtoKNOW.it post. I decided to go with yellow mums for fall, and chose plants that were not fully bloomed so they will hopefully last until Thanksgiving. I’ve never had mums before so I have zero idea what the lifespan of mums is- if I’m too optimistic feel free to let me know in the comments 😂
Stay tuned for the fall updates to the decor! I’m excited for all things pumpkin 😻
