My Essential Clothing Pieces for Fall

Fall is definitely here in Portland, and I'm loving the cozy feel this season brings. We have a couple of fall candles burning in the family room, a cinnamon broom from Trader Joe's in the bathroom, and pumpkin bread baking in the oven. What I love about my fall clothes is that I can easily transition them into winter with just a couple of modifications- but I'm getting ahead of myself! I don't buy clothes super often, so when I do I try to look for something that's a good deal and can be worn for a) multiple seasons and b) multiple years. Therefore, not all of these exact pieces are in stock, but I got to shoot some of my favorite looks with Shauna, and will link where you can find either the exact item or similar. Happy Fall!!

My first piece that you'll rarely see me without is a comfy cardigan or two (or three, four, etc.) I love how you can throw it over any outfit, especially during the early fall days where it's chilly in the morning, but gets warm as the day goes on. Link to similar solid cardigan and link to similar patterned cardigan.

My go to shoes during fall, especially in Portland, have to be waterproof. I got these rain booties last year, and love how versatile they are. I can wear them with leggings, jeans, or a casual dress, and they keep my feet totally dry. Link to boots (also sold at Nordstrom)

This dress is probably my favorite thing to wear during fall! Even though these pictures all feature the same shoes, I love mixing and matching footwear to match the occasion. My favorite outfit I wore last winter was this dress and blanket scarf with tights and my rain booties. Link to similar dress

This pullover has been all over Instagram, and I finally bought into the hype. Let me tell you, I'm so glad I did! This pullover is super comfy, and I can't wait for another sale to get the black one for winter. Link to pullover

This is not a super typical purchase, but I got these overalls when I had a free jean from American Eagle. I styled them during the summer, and am excited to find new ways to wear them the rest of the year. This is a piece that I would love some style suggestions, so let me know how you would style them on this Instagram postLink to overalls
