Capsule Wardrobe: Lace Kimono

Today’s post combined two things I’m enjoying lately with my style- creating different looks with one item of clothing, and getting that piece second hand! I found this kimono on Poshmark with the intention of wearing it for Easter, and quickly found many more options for it. I’ve linked a few similar kimonos on my ShopStyle profile if you want to see some other styles I think are cute, as well as options for each of the outfits below.

If you don’t know what Poshmark is, it’s basically an app that allows you to sell clothes you aren’t wearing anymore, and buy clothes from other people. I’ve found some amazing deals on Poshmark, and have sold some of my clothes as well! You can check out my Poshmark closet here, or sign up yourself and use the code XOXO_LOVE_LAURA and get $5 in credit!

Onto the kimono, like I said earlier my initial plan was to wear this kimono to Easter service and brunch with Spencer’s family. I paired it with this new tank and bralette from a local boutique Cupcake Couture, and a pair of fun pink pants from American Eagle. I liked this outfit because it was comfortable, and Easter isn’t super warm in Portland so the pants were perfect for the weather. I also wore this exact outfit with white shorts in Palm Springs, and could pair it with other colored shorts this summer as well.

For a dressier occasion, I loved how the kimono dressed up this simple dress and added a pop of texture. This would be a great outfit for happy hour or date night, especially during the summer. Restaurants seem to always be freezing in the summer, and I like having some kind of jacket or cover up to keep me warm.

There’s so many more combos for this kimono, including using it as a swim coverup or getting ready accessory for a summer wedding. Don’t forget to check out my ShopStyle profile for similar kimonos to complete your summer looks!

So far in this current style series, I’ve highlighted my denim jacket, basic tank, and now a kimono. I would love to hear what your go to capsule pieces are, and what you want to see styled next!
