Anyone else a fan of the Halloweentown movies? I loved watching the series as a kid, and looked forward to when they would be on T.V. As someone who doesn’t love the scary side of Halloween, I felt like these movies made the season feel festive without giving me nightmares. Halloweentown High is definitely my favorite, and I’m planning on finding a way to watch it on Halloween this year while Spencer and I hand out candy to trick or treaters in our neighborhood.
A couple of years ago, I found out that Halloweentown was actually filmed outside of Portland, in a little town called St. Helens. They have a festival each year, and the whole town decorates for Halloween. I’ve been wanting to go check it out, so when a couple other Portland bloggers wanted to meet up for a group photoshoot with Shauna, I was in! St. Helens is about an hour outside of Portland, but the drive made for great bonding time and conversation with Linnea who runs a blog called Velvet and Sequins.
We went out to St. Helens on a Sunday, so there wasn’t a ton going on. The decorations were really cute, and it was fun to see City Hall and where they filmed some of the main scenes. I think if I were to go back next year, I would go for the kick off ceremony complete with a parade and pumpkin lighting. I’ll link to the website here for more information.
Even though there weren’t a ton of scheduled activities going on, we still got some fun pictures! I’ll share my favorites below- all photo credit belongs to Shauna Dullanty. Enjoy!
