I’ve seen people on my Instagram recently posting about getting eyelash extensions, and I’ve definitely been curious about the process. So when the Lash Lounge in Bethany Village (a suburb on the west side of Portland) reached out and asked if I would be interested in getting a set of lashes during their soft opening, I was definitely in! I wasn’t totally sure what to expect, so I feel like I can bring a perspective of a complete newbie to the process!
When I got to the salon, I chatted with Hannah, who did my lashes, about what I was envisioning. Lash Lounge offers lots of options for your lashes- you can choose between classic (which is a more natural look, the ratio of fake lashes to natural lashes is 1:1) or volume (which is a bolder look, the ratio is 2 or 3:1.) You can also choose how much curl you want in your lashes, again- more of a natural look, or a bolder option. I have pretty long lashes to begin with, so I wanted to add volume while keeping them looking pretty natural- I chose the classic look with less curl in my lash. She walked me through her recommendations, and then we got started.
First, she made sure my eyes were clean and my skin was protected from any adhesive that she would be using, and then I just closed my eyes and let her work. Y’all- I was so relaxed, I for sure fell asleep a couple of times. The process took about 2 hours from start to finish, but they did tell me that it can take up to 3 hours, depending on how many lashes they have to add. Afterwords, she filled me in on the maintenance process, and got my refill scheduled for 2 weeks after my first appointment. My refill only took about an hour, and my refill stylist Rylee said that the more intentional you are about your lash maintenance, the shorter your refill appointments will be.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at the Lash Lounge. The salon itself is super cute, and both Hannah and Rylee immediately put me at ease for the whole process. I felt like my lashes held up well during the two weeks, and the refill made them look just like my initial lash fill. Next, I want to try a lash lift and tint, which was Hannah’s recommendation and compare the longevity and process for both. With my job not requiring me to look super professional all the time, extensions aren’t something I think I’m going to maintain long term, but if you’re in a job where your makeup needs to be very professional every day, I would highly recommend them. It saved me time when I did my makeup, and I love how my eyes look with them in!
All in all, I would highly recommend the Lash Lounge, and hope this has answered some of your questions about lash extensions. I definitely plan on trying a lash lift and tint, and either getting extensions or a lift before Spencer and I have a couple of weddings right in a row in June.
If you’re in the Portland area, the Bethany location is offering 2 different membership options: the VIP membership is $119/month (for a limited time, price will increase) for 2 classic lash refills (over $30 savings) and 10% off services and products, or the basic membership which is $69/month, and includes 1 classic lash refill per month ($6 savings). They are also doing an introductory special which will last for a limited time- $89 for a classic fill! If you’re at all interested in seeing what lash extensions are like, this is a steal!
I received complimentary lash extensions in exchange for my review, however all opinions are my own.
